Stop subsidizing the destruction of historic buildings

Beverage Wholesalers has demolished the beautiful brick 130-year-old Great Northern Railroad freight depot along 4th Ave. N. and is replacing it with a simple warehouse box. To encourage such projects, the City of Fargo has granted them a five-year tax exemption on the cost of these "improvements." It is outrageous that our tax dollars are subsidizing the destruction of historic buildings in Fargo. The City should provide incentives to PRESERVE historic buildings, not provide incentives to demolish them.
